Why Choose a Compact eReader?

A compact eReader fits in a pocket or small bag and is easy to hold in one hand on a commute, in a queue or in bed. The E Ink screen reflects light like paper, so it stays readable in direct sunlight and is easier on the eyes than a phone or LCD tablet. An adjustable front light lets you keep reading at night, and E Ink uses very little power, so you charge far less often than a phone.

Compact eReader or Larger E Ink Tablet?

A 6″ eReader is ideal for novels, articles and quick notes. If you mostly read PDFs, textbooks or documents, or want to write long notes by hand, a 10.3″ or larger screen will be more comfortable. See our large E Ink tablets.

FAQ

1. Can a compact eReader handle large PDF or EPUB files?

Yes. All three models open EPUB and PDF files, and the Palma models have 128 GB of storage for large libraries. For page-heavy PDFs such as textbooks or technical documents, a 10.3" or larger E Ink tablet is more comfortable to read.

2. Is a 6-inch eReader enough for studying or note-taking?

It works well for novels, articles and short study notes. For textbooks, PDFs with diagrams and longer handwritten notes, we recommend a 10.3" or larger E Ink tablet.

3. What is the best compact eReader for reading outdoors in sunlight?

All compact models use E Ink screens, which have no glare and stay readable in direct sunlight. For evening reading, each one has an adjustable front light.

4. How does a compact eReader compare to reading on a smartphone?

An E Ink screen reflects light like paper instead of shining it at your eyes, so long reading sessions are more comfortable. The battery also lasts much longer, and there are fewer notifications to distract you.

5. Do compact BOOX eReaders support a stylus?

Yes. Go 6 (Gen II), Palma 3 and Palma 2 Pro all work with the BOOX InkSense Plus stylus (sold separately) for quick notes and highlights. For longer handwritten notes, a larger BOOX tablet is more comfortable.

6. Are compact eReaders suitable for work, or just for casual reading?

They work well for reading on the go. Palma 2 Pro adds mobile data through a hybrid SIM slot (data only) and A-GPS, and both Palma models have 128 GB of storage and a 3,950 mAh battery. Go 6 (Gen II) is the lightest and most affordable choice for everyday reading.
